Graydon Thompson CPAs Adds New Staff Members
Graydon Thompson LLC recently added Reba Childers to its Small Business Services group and Georgia Mueller as Office Manager. Childers is a Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor with three decades of accounting and small business services, including operating her own QuickBooks consulting and bookkeeping firm. In her new role, she will provide bank reconciliation, payroll and sales tax reporting, data entry, QuickBooks Pro consulting, and accounting and bookkeeping services to individuals and small and midsized organizations.

In her new role, Mueller will manage the day-to-day operations for Graydon Thompson’s Greenville headquarters, and provide payroll support, QuickBooks consulting and accounting and bookkeeping services to small and midsized businesses. She has more than 20 years of office administration, accounting and small business services experience. Mueller graduated from King’s College.

Grant Thornton Announces New Hires
Grant Thornton LLP recently announced that Jim Brady, CPA will join the firm as its central region managing partner, Marty Dorfner, CPA will join as a director and key account executive, and Christopher Baratta as managing director in its Health Care Advisory Services practice. Brady has nearly 35 years of professional services experience auditing both large and medium-sized public and private companies. He also spent seven years launching and building audit and advisory practices in India and Russia and served as chief executive officer for the U.S.-India Audit and Advisory Joint Venture in Hyderabad, India, and as regional managing partner in Moscow. Brady graduated from Bryant University with his bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Dorfner has more than 20 years of experience in professional services, sales and marketing, recruiting, accounting and auditing. In his new role, he will be responsible for building the firm’s presence and relationships with clients and prospects. Dorfner graduated with his bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting from Duquesne University.

Baratta has more than 15 years of healthcare consulting experience, particularly in the areas of revenue cycle transformation, revenue cycle technology systems design and implementation, patient experience solutions, ICD-10 remediation, performance improvement, revenue enhancement and cost reduction. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree in biology and psychology with a minor in economics from Northwestern University.

CPA Practice Advisor’s “Most Powerful Women in Accounting” Honoree Forms CPA Growth Guides
Katie Tolin recently founded CPA Growth Guides, a consulting firm focused on helping CPA firms identify their best path to top-line revenue growth by helping firms develop growth strategies and tactics and strategic marketing plans. Tolin has almost 20 years of marketing experience at regional, super regional and national accounting firms. As one of CPA Practice Advisor‘s Most Powerful Women in Accounting, she is a nationally recognized in the accounting profession, having also been named an Accounting Marketer of the Year and one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in Public Accounting. As immediate past president of the Association for Accounting Marketing, Tolin led several organizational changes that include hiring the organization’s first executive director, initiating a comparison of marketing budgets in the industry and launching a council to help AAM stay updated with what’s happening in the industry. 

WeiserMazars Hosts First Annual Days of Service
WeiserMazars LLP recently hosted its first annual Days of Service and more than 400 employees participated. WeiserMazars encouraged its employees to dedicate a full workday assisting local service agencies. The Days of Service initiative is part of the firm’s We Are WeiserMazars program that fosters employees’ personal and professional growth.

448 employees, including 73 partners, participated in the Days of Service. Each individual spent the day at 32 community and non-profit programs throughout New York City, Long Island, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Chicago.  Volunteer activities ranged from paying visits to homebound seniors with New York Cares; to assisting young children with disabilities at the AHRC Special Olympics on Long Island; creating a “photo booth” at the Piscataway Senior Center in New Jersey; helping organize the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry in Chicago; and sorting children’s clothes as part of the Cradles to Crayons’ Giving Factory in Pennsylvania.  WeiserMazars’ 448-strong volunteer corps brought smiles and joy to hundreds of people in need and the dedicated organizations serving them.

BDO USA, LLP Hires New Partners
BDO USA, LLP, is pleased to announce that 30 new partners have been admitted to the partnership, effective July 1.   Twenty-two of the new partners are in the assurance business line, seven are in the tax business line and one is in the firm’s national office.  BDO is a leading national professional services firm providing assurance, tax, financial advisory and consulting services to private and publicly traded businesses.
